Michael Clausen, of Watson, died Monday evening, July 1, 2013, at his home in Watson, MN at the age of 56.
Funeral service was at 10:00 AM, Saturday, July 6, 2013, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boyd, MN with Pastor Lori Wold officiating; scripture lessons were Ecclesiastes 3:1-7, Revelation 21:1-7 and John 3:16-17; organist, Ardyce Thompson accompanied Heidi Sachariason and Darren Clausen singing “How Great Thou Art” and the congregational hymn “On Eagle’s Wings.” "Bad To The Bone", one of Mike's favorite songs, was played as a recessional song. Honorary casketbearers were Mike’s grandchildren, nieces, and nephews and the active were Dean Larson, Gary Rodeberg, Reid Griess, Randy Melby, Neil Schillling, Jeff Liebl, Jerry Lee, Bruce Strand, Jerry Gruwell, Daryl Piipke. Interment was in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Boyd.
Visitation will be Friday from 5-7PM at the Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson and at the church for one hour prior to the service.
Michael Ray Clausen was born May 6, 1957, at Montevideo, MN, the son of Chester and Edith (Nelson) Clausen. He grew up in the Boyd area and graduated from Dawson-Boyd High School in 1975. Mike was united in marriage with Deb Gruwell December 6, 1975. They made their home in the Dawson and Boyd area. Mike worked for Land O Lakes, Little Debbies, UPS, the Appleton Prison, Jerry Lee and has owned and operated the Watson Corner Store for the past 10 years. He enjoyed pheasant hunting, attending auctions, playing softball and darts. He was a social butterfly and was a huge Vikings fan. Family and friends were a very important part of Mike’s life.
He is survived by his wife, Deb; four children; Gerad (Jamie) Clausen of Boyd, Brandon (Stephanie) Clausen of Boyd, Michelle (Jon) Denhartigh of Montevideo, and Casey (fiance, Hillary Swenson) Clausen of Boyd; six grandchildren: Paige, Zander, Shelby, Emma, Audrey and Jeffrey; a sister, Gloria (Marvin) Piipke of Minneota; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a grandson, Lucas; and two brothers: Dennis and Lonny.
