Mildred Hanson, formerly of Milan, died on Thursday, August 20, 2009 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 97. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, August 24, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan with Rev. Rob Kemppainen officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon and evening with family present from 5-6 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. Mildred Theodora (Quammen) Hanson was born on June 7, 1912 in Ten Mile Lake Twp. of Lac qui Parle Co., MN to Theodore and Milla ( Johnson) Quammen. She grew up on a rural Boyd farm and was baptized and confirmed at St. Petri Lutheran Church in Lac qui Parle Co. She attended rural schools and graduated from Montevideo High School in 1931. After working in Marshall, MN for a few years, she was united in marriage to Carl Hanson on November 21, 1941. They farmed on his home farm until moving into Milan in 1972. She moved to Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo in 2000. She was a long-time member of Kviteseid Lutheran Church, serving as the church financial secretary for several years and involved in women's groups. She was active as a 4-H leader and in Farmers Union and enjoyed cooking, doing word puzzles, crochetting, decorating around the home and loved nature. She is survived by a son - Russell Hanson and his wife RoseAnn of Milan, MN; two daughters: Marlys Kvistero and her husband Keith and Jane Link and her husband Marvin, both of Milan, MN; 9 grandchildren: Jill (Robert) Blom of Milan, MN; Shawn Hanson of Sioux Falls, SD; Kim (Wade) Kittelson of Milan, MN; Aaron (Shari) Kvistero of Sioux Falls, SD; Sarah (Felix) Hernandez of Eden Prairie, MN; Jason (Sara) Link of Plymouth, MN; Kristi (Brad) Fernholz of Appleton, MN; Steve (Stacy) Link of Casselton, ND and Ryan Link (and his fiance Jen) of Milan, MN; 15 great grandchildren: Mackenzie, Jenna, and Paul Blom; Victoria and Gabriel Hernandez; Braiden, Tayler, and Kaitlyn Kittelson; Jacob, Grace, and Julia Link; Gavin and Anika Fernholz; and Grady and Keaton Link; 2 sisters: Hazel Quenemoen of Montevideo, and Doris Fenske of CA as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Carl in 2000; a great granddaughter, Nora Fernholz; four brothers: Clarence, Orris, Ole, and Wendell Quammen and two sisters, Evelyn Anderson and Edna Johnson
