Mildred (Danielson) Hawkinson died on Sunday, October 14, 2018 at the Chippewa County- Montevideo Hospital at the age of 100.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 10:30 AM at Clarkfield Lutheran Church with Pastor Jean M. Megorden officiating. Interment will be at Clarkfield Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation with the family will be held on Friday, October 19, 2018 from 5-7 PM at Lynner Funeral Home in Clarkfield and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
Mildred (Danielson) Hawkinson was born in Clarkfield on August 12, 1918 to Axel and Hilda (Miller) Peterson. She was baptized and confirmed at what is now Augustana Lutheran Church.
She attended the Clarkfield School for nine years, but graduated from Minneota High School in 1936. She worked in Minneota, Marshall and Minneapolis.
On November 18, 1939, Mildred married Olender Danielson. They had 3 children, Lois, Duane and Lyle. They farmed in rural Cottonwood for 20 years where, she was active in St. Lucas Church and Farmers Union. In 1960 they moved to rural Clarkfield where she was active in Clarkfield Lutheran Church, a 4-H leader, and on the Extension board. Len passed away in May 1969. In July 1970 she began work at J.C. Penny in Hopkins. Mildred and Howard Hawkinson were married in January 1971 and they lived in St Louis Park until he retired from Honeywell in 1979. They then moved to Montevideo, but also spent 20 winters in Mesa, AZ where she enjoyed playing shuffleboard and cards and helping with activities in the park. Howard passed away on August 31,1999, just a few days after they moved to an apartment in Clarkfield. She enjoyed going to Senior Dining and Senior Citizens.
Mildred is survived by her children: Lois Hanson Denenberg, Duane (Cleo) Danielson, Lyle (Jonnie) Danielson; five grandchildren: Karen Hertel, Gary Hanson, Anita (Vito) LoCrichio, Eric (Kandi) Danielson, Jason (Angie) Danielson; three step-grandchildren; Dan (Joyce) Engler, Lori (Jamey) Penoyer, and Sarah Beers; 19 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were both husbands; sisters: Florence Benson and Stella Weinhold; one great-grandchild; one niece; two nephews; and several sister and brothers-in-law.
