Mildred Ione (Johnson) Lanes

Montevideo

Mildred Ione Lanes, of Montevideo, died on Tuesday, December 20, 2005 at the Chippewa County - Montevideo Hospital at the age of 80.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, December 23, 2005 at 1:30 P.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Tim Ehling officiating.  Burial will be in the Black Oak Lake Lutheran Cemetery.  Visitation will be Thursday afternoon and evening and with the family from 5 - 7 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo, as well as for one hour prior to the services at the church.

Mildred Ione (Johnson) Lanes was born on April 6, 1925 in Mandt Township of Chippewa County, MN to Roy and Ella (Olson) Johnson.  She was baptized on May 26, 1925 at Mandt Lutheran Church and confirmed on May 21, 1939 at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan, MN.  She attended Milan schools and graduated from Milan High School in 1943.  She attended Roger and Benner Beauty School in Minneapolis, graduating in October of 1945.   On October 27, 1945 she was united in marriage to Robert Lanes at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan, MN.  She ran a beauty shop out of her home until 1973.  They farmed for many years in Leenthrop Township before moving into Montevideo in 1998.  She was an active member of Black Oak Lutheran Church, serving as a Sunday School Superintendent and teacher, and was a member of their women’s groups.  When Black Oak Lutheran closed, she became a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo, belonging to a Bible Study, Circle and W-ELCA.  She enjoyed sewing, making clothes for her family, going to the lake with her family, playing cards and dancing.

She is survived by a daughter, Sally Shaur and her husband Roger of Bloomington, MN; two sons: Dr. Tom Lanes and his wife Colleen of Alexandria, MN and Jerry Lanes and his wife Bonnie of St. Peter, MN; seven grandchildren: Zachary, Jamie, Robert, Michael, Chris, Kayla and Jerad; two sisters: Barb Dalen and her husband Ernie of Milan, MN and Vonnie Thompson and her husband Dean of Montevideo, MN; a sister-in-law, Jane Douglas of White Bear Lake, MN; two brothers-in-law: Bruce Lanes and his wife Casey of Anoka, MN and Lee Lanes and his wife Vickie of Columbia, MO; a sister-in-law, Florence Lanes of Minneapolis, MN; as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert in 2001; a brother, Lyle Johnson; a nephew, Keith Lanes; and a brother-in-law, Donald Lanes
