Mildred Nyheim Christians died on Tuesday, November 4, 2003 at the Clarkfield Care Center at the age of 94.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, November 8, 2003 at 11:00 AM at Hope Reformed Church in Montevideo with Rev. Tom Hoogendoorn officiating. Interment will be in the Terrace Lawn memory Gardens.
Visitation will be Friday afternoon and evening, with the family from 5 - 7 PM and with a prayer service at 6:30 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Mildred Goldie Nyheim Christians was born on June 22, 1909 in Maxwell Township of Lac Qui Parle County, MN to Orin and Lillian (Darling) Baxter. She grew up in rural Dawson and attended rural schools. On June 16, 1924 she was united in marriage to Gustav Nyheim in Montevideo. Following his death in June of 1974, she was united in marriage to Enno Christians on October 1, 1975. She lived her married life in Granite Falls, Wegdahl and in Montevideo. She had been a resident of the Clarkfield Care Center for the past 5 years. She was a member of Hope Reformed Church. She loved to crochet afghans, doilies and tablecloths. She also baked the best bread and donuts, liked to play cards and loved to sing.
She is survived by three children: Ordell Nyheim and his wife Vivian of Canton, OH, Darlene Black and her husband James of Montevideo, MN and Paul Nyheim and his wife Shirley of Montevideo, MN; nine grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Gordon Baxter of Graceville, MN; a sister-in-law, Florence Baxter of Long Prairie, MN; as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands: Gustav Nyheim in 1974 and Enno Christians in 1996; twin grandsons: Stephen and Stacy Nyheim; three great-grandchildren: Crystal Drew; Jeffrey Nyheim and Eric Black; six sisters: Ina Waller, Rena Waller, Ella Newton, Janet Ghetter, Daisy Edin, and Clara Wynia; and six brothers: Ora, Floyd, Sidney, Claudie, Basil and Norman Baxter.
