Mildred (Moen) Rekstad

October 16, 1914 — November 27, 1993

Mildred Rekstad, 79 of Montevideo died November 27, 1993 at the Chippewa County - Montevideo Hospital.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 30 at 11:00 A.M. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church.  Rev. Warren Broughton and Rev. Lloyd Tobiassen will officiate and interment will be at Jevnaker Lutheran Cemetery, rural Montevideo.

Visitation will be held Monday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo and at the church for one hour before services on Tuesday.  There will be a prayer service at 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home Monday evening.

Mildred Rekstad was born October 16,  1914 in Rosewood Township, Chippewa County, MN the daughter of Ole and Carrie (Bue) Moen.  She was baptized November 26, 1914 and confirmed September 16, 1928 at Immanuel Lutheran Church.  After high school, Mildred attended Moorhead State and later graduated from the Uof MN at Morris.  She taught  in rural schools and also in Maynard before retiring in 1974.  Mildred was united in marriage with Rudolph Rekstad February 8, 1941 at Mankato, MN.  They made their home in Grace Township before moving into Montevideo in 1970.  Rudolph died June 6, 1985.

Mildred was a member of Jevnaker Lutheran Church, where she served as Sunday School Superintendent, and a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church after they moved into town, where she had served as president of the WELCA, Claudia Circle, and Senior Lites.

She is survived by one daughter, Mary Gibson and her husband Dennis of Montevideo, MN; one son, John and his wife Michelle of Bowie, MD; four grandchildren: Shane and his wife Sharol Gibson, Shaun and his wife Valerie Gibson, Shannon Rekstad, and Erick Rekstad; and four great-grandchildren: Amanda, Chelsea, Jordann, and Katreina.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Rudolph; and one brother, Ragnar Moen.
