Mildred Wilkinson, of Montevideo, died on Friday, November 6, 2009 at the Chippewa County-Montevideo Hospital at the age of 93. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at 10:30 A.M. at the United Methodist Church in Montevideo with Rev. Gwen Bohlke officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon and evening with the family present from 5 - 7 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. Mildred May (Erickson) Wilkinson was born on March 14, 1916 in Rosewood Township of Chippewa County, MN to Frank and Genoa (Ellis) Erickson. She attended rural schools for several years and graduated from Montevideo High School in 1934. On June 9, 1937 she was united in marriage to Lee Wilkinson in Montevideo. They farmed for many years in Sparta Township of Chippewa County with the exception of about nine months in Orange County, CA. Over the years she was employed at the Carlson Doll Factory, Maus's Grocery Store and Rich's U-Save, Barwick Drapery and worked as a waitress. Following the death of her husband, Mildred moved into Montevideo in 1992. She spent many years as a resident of the Burnsdale Apartments and was currently a resident of Homefront. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and its Lydia Circle. Mildred was active in homemakers, the Good Neighbor Club, Senior Citizens and the Rebekah Lodge. She loved flowers and gardening, working on crafts, fishing trips, traveling, playing cards and visiting with family and friends. She is survived by six children: Janice Krenzke of Chaska, MN, Delores (and Richard) Olson of Montevideo, DeWayne (and Stephanie) Wilkinson of Pine City, MN, Frank (and Diane) Wilkinson of Vesta, MN, Marjorie (and Donald) Amsler of Surprise, AZ and Harold (and Pamela) Wilkinson of Tallahasee, FL; twenty-two grandchildren; fifty great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren; five sisters: Irene Flores of Swansea, IL, Ethel Wetzler of San Juan Capistrano, CA, Evelyn Stratmoen of Hurst, TX, Frances Erickson of San Juan Capistrano, CA and Elinor Thursby of San Diego, CA; as well as by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lee in 1991; a great-grandson, Kyle Olson; two brothers: Elton and Russell Erickson; and by two sisters: Pauline Knight and Opal Winslow.
