Marvel "Molly" Lauritsen, of Montevideo, died on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at the Chippewa County-Montevideo Hospital at the age of 94. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, April 21, 2011 at 1:30 P.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Kathy Skoglund officiating. Interment will be in Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon and evening with the family present from 5 - 7 P.M. and with a prayer service at 7 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. Marvel Beatrice (Quaal) Lauritsen was born September 28, 1916 in Camp Release Township, Lac qui Parle County, MN the daughter of Sivert and Mary (Erickson) Quaal. She was baptized by Rev. Peterson at St. Petri Free Church in Camp Release Township and confirmed by Rev. Tollefson. Marvel attended rural school in District #16. She was united in marriage with Louie E. Lauritsen on March 31, 1936 at Montevideo. They farmed for 42 years in Camp Release Township before retiring and moving to Montevideo in 1978. Marvel was an avid sports fan, especially for the Minnesota Twins. In her lifetime she enjoyed gardening, bowling, and entertaining friends in her home, after serving her "good" strawberry jam and favorite pecan pie. In her youth, she was a fast-ball pitcher. Molly enjoyed her grandchildren and was very happy to be the great-grandmother of JJ, Reagan, Paxton, and Rowan. A lifetime member of St. Petri and then Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo, she belonged to and served with the Esther Circle. She is survived by a son, Lyle (and Judy) Lauritsen of West Fargo, ND; four grandchildren: Ryan Lauritsen, Jason (Stephanie) Lauritsen, Sara (David) Schneck, and Lindsey Lauritsen; and four great-grandchildren: JJ and Reagan Lauritsen and Paxton and Rowan Schneck. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Louie in 1993, and two brothers and two sisters.
