Monroe Reeker

August 28, 1918 — February 14, 2011

Monroe Reeker died Monday, February 14, 2011 at his home in rural Montevideo at the age of 92. Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 19, 2011 at 10:00 AM at Calvary Baptist Church in Montevideo. Pastor Gregg Zeidler will officiate and interment will be at Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held on Friday from 5-7:00 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. Monroe Marcells Reeker was born August 28, 1918 at Jefferson County, IL the son of Frederick and Annie (Maring) Reeker. He attended rural school near Bluford, IL. He was united in marriage with Vermadel Wood November 1, 1941 at Cape Girardeau, MO. He served in the US Air Force during WW II. They moved to Minnesota in 1946 and to Montevideo in 1960. He was a drainage contractor and ran Reeker Construction. He enjoyed caring for his friend, family and a small acreage. He also enjoyed hunting and working in his metal shop. He is survived by two children: Dianna (and David) Soehren of Appleton, MN and Paul (and Siew Yin Hoong) Reeker of Houston, TX and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Vermadel on June 26, 2008; six brothers: Alvin, Hubert, Fredrick, Prince, Alfonso, and Urban; and two sisters: Lorinda, and Irene.
