Myhra Minnie (Olson) Frengen

Myhra Frengen died Tuesday, November 14, 2006 at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 101.

Funeral services will be held Monday, November 20, 2006 at 1:30 P.M. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo.  Rev. Donald S. McKee will officiate and interment will be at Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Montevideo.  Visitation will be held at the church for one hour before the services on Monday.

Myhra Minnie (Olson) Frengen was born March 13, 1905 at Montevideo, MN the daughter of Charles and Edith (Manthey) Olson.  She was baptized April 21, 1905 and confirmed May 11, 1919 at St. John’s Lutheran Church.  Myhra graduated from Montevideo High School in 1925.  She worked as a bookkeeper at Farmer’s Creamery.  She was united in marriage with Sigvart Frengen on June 12, 1927 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church.  They made their home in Montevideo.  Myhra worked as a bookkeeper at the Coop Oil Company for ten years and at the Coop Credit Union for 6 years.  She was the treasurer of the Senior Citizens Club of Montevideo and received an honorary award from Gov. Perpich for her hard work.  She took a special interest in working in her gardens, she enjoyed her birthday club with her friends, and especially enjoyed dancing with her husband, Sig in the Square Dancing Club.  Myhra was active at Our Saviors where she taught Wednesday School, belonged to the Altar Guild, was treasurer of Priscilla Circle, and active in the Ladies Aid.

She is survived by one daughter, Dennes Kostad and her husband Loren of W. St. Paul, MN; three grandchildren: Ellen (Robb) Empson, Gail Kostad, and Kristopher Kostad; two great-grandchildren: Melissa Smith and Delilah Kostad; one sister, Evelyn Stroh of Harlinger, TX; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Sigvart died September 19, 1959; one brother, Melvin Olson; and two sisters: Hilda Lanes and Clara Jurgens.
