Myrtle Kittelson, of Montevideo and formerly of the Louisburg, MN area, died on Wednesday, March 7, 2001 at the home of her son - Wallace Kittelson at the age of 98.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, March 12, 2001 at 10:30 AM at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan with Rev. Wayne Anderson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday afternoon and evening and with the family from 5 - 8 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. The Strand Funeral Service of Milan is in charge of funeral arrangements.
Myrtle Laurine Kittelson was born on February 6, 1903 in Hantho Twp. of Lac Qui Parle Co., MN to Martin and Lena (Notvig) Slotten. She grew up in the Louisburg, MN area and attended rural schools. On January 1, 1930 she was united in marriage to Alfred Kittelson. They moved to the Milan, MN area and farmed until Alfred’s death in 1953. Shortly thereafter she moved back to Hantho Twp to her family farm to help care for her mother. In October of 1999 she moved to Montevideo to live with her son - Wallace. She enjoyed gardening, baking, sewing, quilting, raising flowers, crocheting, canning and especially liked to visit.
Myrtle is survived by a son Wallace Kittelson and his wife Wanda of Montevideo; by 4 grandchildren - Craig Kittelson and his wife Lori of Andover, MN; Scott Kittelson and his wife Tracy of Montevideo, MN; Michael Kittelson of Montevideo, MN and Mindy Kittelson of St. Cloud, MN; 4 great grandchildren - Katy and Rachel Kittelson of Andover, MN and Trevor and Anthony Kittelson of Montevideo, MN; a sister - Clara Jelle of Belleville, WI and by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Alfred in 1953; a granddaughter - Tanya Kittelson; a brother - Orvin Slotten; and a sister - Jeanette Slotten.
