Myrtle Nordaune, of Montevideo, died Sunday September 22, 1996 at the Chippewa Co - Montevideo Hospital at the age of 83.
Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday September 25, 1996 at 10:30 AM at Our Saviours Lutheran Church of Baxter with Rev. Steve Rheingans officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Myrtle Lennice (Risdahl) Nordaune was born on September 14, 1913 to Peder and Bertha (Anderson) Risdahl on their farm home in Manfred Township in Lac Qui Parle Co, MN near Gary, SD. She was the youngest of eight children. She was baptized and confirmed at Florida Lutheran Church of rural Canby, MN, where she was active in Sunday School, Choir, and Luther League through her young adulthood. She attended rural schools in Lac Qui Parle Co District #46 and graduated from Canby High School. She attended Teacher's Training and Mankato State Teachers College. She taught school for 13 years in rural schools in Lac Qui Parle and Yellow Medicine Counties and spent 8 years as a para-professional at Ramsey Elementary school in Montevideo. She was united in marriage to Herbert Nordaune on March 3, 1944 at the Lutheran Parsonage in Canby. They farmed in Baxter Township until 1992 when they moved to Montevideo. She became a member of Our Saviours Lutheran Church of Baxter following her marriage and continued to be an active member.
She is survived by her husband - Herbert; by daughters - Corinne Anderson and her husband Dennis of Bloomington, MN; Lennice Keefe and her husband Tom of Waconia, MN; and Roselyn Nordaune of Plymouth, MN; by grandchildren - Pam and Brian Olson; Darren and Jodi Anderson; Tim, Ted and John Keefe; by sisters-in-law - Florence Nordaune of Montevideo and Marianna Nordaune of Blooming Prairie, MN;; by a brother-in-law - Melvin Hofland of Benson, MN; as well as by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, 4 sisters, a niece and a nephew.
