Nakia Shipman, of Montevideo, died on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at her home in Montevideo at the age of 30. Funeral services will be on Thursday , January 21, 2010 at 7:00 P.M. with Pastor Barry Brace officiating. Visitation will be from 5 - 7 PM, also on Thursday, all at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. Nakia Faye Shipman was born on April 7, 1979 in Rockledge, FL. She moved to the Montevideo, MN area at age 7 and lived most of her life there. She was an artist and loved to draw and paint and was a singer and loved music. She loved children, loved to cook, was a peacemaker and loved spending time with her family. She is survived by her soul-mate, Ronald Franklin; a daughter, Morgan Edwards of Albertville, AL; three step-children: Holley, Eva and Coy Franklin; her mother, Melinda Kaupang of Montevideo; her father and step-mother, Jerry and Kathy Kaupang of Clarkfield, MN; two sisters: Michelle and Corina Kaupang of Clarkfield and Montevideo; a brother, Christopher Kaupang of Montevideo; a grandson, Jamison Korte of Montevideo and a nephew, Phoenix Newton of Montevideo. She was preceded in death by her grandparents and by an uncle, Michael Walker.
