Nestor Mehrer, of Montevideo, died on Saturday, February 8, 2003 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home at the age of 81.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, February 13, 2003 at 2:00 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Montevideo with Rev. Michael Briggs officiating.  Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday for one hour prior to services at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.

Nestor Mehrer was born on September 20, 1921 Scotland, SD to Soloman and Sophia (Max) Mehrer. He moved with his family to Harold, SD in 1927 and later to Rupert, ID.  He served in the US Army during WWII.  He attended and graduated from South Dakota State College and served as a County Agent in Selby, SD in the early 1950's.  He managed a livestock sales barn in Mobridge, SD and was a cattle buyer for Iowa Beef before retiring.   On August 9, 1974 he was united in marriage to Mary Jane Olson in Brookings, SD.  They made their home in Montevideo.  He was currently a resident of the Luther Haven Nursing Home.

He is survived by 3 nephews and a number of cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary Jane in 1996; 2 brothers and an infant sister.
