Norma (Koenen) Anderson

January 21, 1927 — October 22, 2013

Norma Anderson, of Montevideo, died Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at the Chippewa - County Montevideo Hospital at the age of 86.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo, MN.

Visitation will be Friday, October 25, 2013 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. with prayer service starting at 7:00 p.m. at the Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home.

Norma Lucile (Koenen) Anderson was born January 21, 1927 in Stoneham Township, Chippewa County, MN the daughter of Henry and Martha (Groothuis) Koenen. She was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City and confirmed at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Montevideo. As a girl, Norma attended Montevideo school district 7. Norma was united in marriage with Lester Anderson September 22, 1946 at the Montevideo Church of God. They made their home in Montevideo before moving to Clara City and then returning to Montevideo. Lester died March 8, 1977. Norma continued to live at home before moving to Parkview Towers in 1986 and to Luther Haven Nursing Home in April. She worked as a cook at Luther Haven, Brookside Manor, the Hunt Hotel and the Clara City Nursing Home. Norma was active in Women’s Circle for Immanuel Lutheran Church and Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. She was also a Gold Circle Member for VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Norma enjoyed watching birds, fishing, dancing, and cooking.

She is survived by a daughter, Sandra (Valgene) Jorgenson of Montevideo; three grandchildren: Brian (Rita) Jorgenson of Montevideo, Colin (Lori) Jorgenson of Andover, MN, and Jody (Scott) Sachariason of Montevideo; five great-grandchildren: Mathea, Thayne, Cedar, Skylyn, Thor and another due in February; a brother, LeRoy (Virginia) Koenen of Montevideo and nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Lester; and three sisters: Lillian Borg, Bernice Boike, and Shirley Rikke.
