Norma Christenson died Thursday, September 14, 2006 at Guardian Angels Care Center in Elk River, MN at the age of 73.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 18, 2006 at 1:30 PM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Rev. Donald S. McKee will officiate and burial will be at Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Sunday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home with the family present from 4-6:00 PM and a prayer service at 5:30.
Norma Jean (Johnson) Christenson was born August 22, 1933 at Montevideo, MN the daughter of Elmer and Eunice (Bushey) Johnson. She was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church and attended school in Montevideo. Norma was united in marriage with Delbert Christenson March 24, 1950 at Our Saviors Lutheran Parsonage in Montevideo. They lived in Montevideo, Granite Falls, Forest Lake, and Big Lake, MN before moving back to Montevideo in July of 1996. Delbert died October 4, 1996. Norma moved to Elk River in 2000. She enjoyed spending time with her family and especially loved young children. Her home was always a gathering place for family and friends. She loved to bake and cook as well as playing cards and bowling.
She is survived by one daughter, Jill Ross and her husband Elroy of Granite Falls, MN; three sons: Brian Christenson and his wife Kathy of Chisago City, MN, Mark Christenson and his wife Bev of Wyoming, MN, and Bradley Christenson and his wife Patty of Forest Lake, MN; seven grandchildren: Eric (Sara) Christenson, Dusty (Raylin) Christenson, Adam Christenson, Evan (Lindsey) Christenson, Bret Christenson, and Amanda and Kelli Ross; six great-grandchildren: Zachary, Allison, Gretta, Alyssa, Justin, and Raenna; one brother, Bernard “Wimpy” (Gloria) Johnson of Montevideo, MN; one sister, Beulah Rooney of Centrailia, WA; as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Delbert; her son, Todd and a son in infancy; and four brothers: Daryl, Merle, Raymond, and Verlin Johnson.
