Norma Winkelman

July 24, 1923 — September 27, 2012

Norma Winkelman, formerly of Milan and Montevideo, died on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at the Guardian Angels Care Center in Elk River, MN at the age of 89. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at 1:30 P.M. at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan with Rev. Bruce Berg officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.

Norma Evangeline (Streed) Winkelman was born on July 24, 1923 at the family farm in Swift County, MN to John Edward and Onetta (Stevens) Strid. She was baptized and confirmed at the Milan Methodist Church. She attended District 89 country grade school and graduated from Milan High School in 1941. On December 13, 1941 she was united in marriage to Warren Winkelman on the family farm. They farmed in rural Milan until retiring in the late 1970's. In the early 1970's they moved into Milan. She also worked at Control Data in Montevideo. They enjoyed a cabin on Lake Minnewaska for over 50 years and spent nearly 25 years wintering in Arizona. In 2005 they moved to Montevideo. She was a member of Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan. She enjoyed fishing, reading, traveling and spending time with her family. She is survived by three children: Dianne Hagenstad and her husband Larry of Chisago City, MN, Dean Winkelman and his wife Sue of Cedar, MN, and Carol Gilbertson and her husband Lynn of St. Michael, MN; seven grandchildren: Cheryl, Michelle, Matthew, Sara, Wade, Jon and Luke; six great-grandchildren: Amanda, Aaron, Valen, Catherine, Christopher and Serena; a sister, Hazel Moe of Montevideo; a brother, Warren Streed of Appleton, MN as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Warren in 2006; a granddaughter, Cathy Hagenstad; three sisters: Helma Reuss, Olga Anderson and Ebba Strid and five brothers: Erick Streed, Fritz Streed, Arnold Streed, Verner Streed and Albert Streed.
