Odell Millard Fagerlie was born January 29, 1918, in Renville County, near Sacred Heart, to Olaf and Mabel (Hagen) Fagerlie. He was baptized and confirmed at the Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Sacred Heart and attended country school at District 43. In 1939, Odell's father died and the family moved to Meeker County near Grove City, where they continued farming. In 1974, Odell discontinued the dairy and grain farming operation and moved to the Dawson area, where he worked for relatives and other farmers. In 1993, he retired and moved to Parkview Apartments in Dawson.
Odell died on Wednesday, August 23, 2000, at the Johnson Memorial Hospital in Dawson at the age of 82 years, 6 months, and 24 days.
He is survived by his sister, Virginia (Allen) Moe of Dawson; brother Luverne (Grace) Fagerlie of Willmar; sister-in-law, Christine Feigum of Renville; nieces and nephews, other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Florence, Ruby, and Lorraine Fagerlie and Evelyn Breberg; and one brother, Vernon Feigum.
Odell is remembered as a person who loved farming and always had a loyal farm dog to help him. He enjoyed movies, playing cards, and in his retirement years, reading the Dawson, Willmar, and Litchfield newspapers.
