Odell Schaller

April 13, 1928 — November 10, 2017

Odell Schaller, of Maynard, died Friday, November 10, 2017 at his home in rural Maynard at the age of 89.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at 10:30 AM at Maynard Presbyterian Church in Maynard, MN with Rev. Beverly Crute officiating.  Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Montevideo.

Visitation will be held for one hour before the services at the church.

Odell Carlyle Schaller was born on April 13, 1928 in Montevideo to Charles and Laura (Sanderson) Schaller.  He grew up on the family farm and attended school in Maynard, graduating from Maynard High School. Following high school, he volunteered for the draft and served in the United States Army.  Upon discharge from the Army, Odell returned to the family farm.  On March 9, 1973, Odell married Corinne Himle at Maynard Presbyterian Church.

Odell was a lifelong member of  Maynard Presbyterian Church, and served as an usher, Communion Assistant, and on various boards in the church. He was also a member of the American Legion and the Shriners Club.  He served Chippewa County for many years as a County Commissioner.  He enjoyed woodworking, stained glass art, gardening, cooking and traveling.  Odell and Corinne traveled many places including Europe and Alaska.  They had an RV and would camp around the United States with friends and family, and had wintered in Arizona for several years.

Odell is survived by two daughters: Marsha (Ronald) Albertson and Cheryl Monson, both of Montevideo; grandchildren: Ryan Albertson, Nicole (Brian) Baker, Tasha (Greg) Frey, Dustin (Courtney) Albertson, and Joshua Monson; seven great-grandchildren: Jackson, Lauren, Lennon, Sophie, Caroline, Anna, and Peyton; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Corinne; three brothers: Royal "Roy"  Schaller, Jessie Schaller, and John "Jack" Schaller; two sisters: Mable Kingdon and Zola Lighter; and three nieces and three nephews.
