Olaf Nelson, of Montevideo, died on Monday, September 21, 1998 at the Chippewa Co - Montevideo Hospital at the age of 83.
Funeral services were conducted on Friday, September 25, 1998 at 1:30 PM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Gregory Gabriel officiating. Burial was in the Mandt Lutheran Cemetery.
Olaf Andreas Nelson was born on October 5, 1914 in Mandt Township of Chippewa Co., MN to Hans and Bertha (Stennhaus) Nelson. He was baptized and confirmed at Mandt Lutheran Church and attended rural schools. On June 26, 1948 he was united in marriage to Rhoda Moen at the Mandt Lutheran Church. He farmed and lived in Mandt Township until moving to Montevideo in 1984, after which he continued to farm. He was a life long member of Mandt Lutheran Church and held many offices in the church. He was a member of the Masons, Sons of Norway and Hadeland Lag. He was active in the community and known by many.
He is survived by his wife - Rhoda; by a sister - Agnes Olson of Benson; as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; by a sister - Ruth Larson; by brothers - Paul Nelson, Hilmar Nelson, Ludwig Nelson; Abner Nelson, Arthur Nelson and Bjorne Nelson and by a brother and 2 sisters in infancy.
