Olga Constance Haugesag was born in Boyd, MN, to Christian and Lena (Olson) Hassel on March 15, 1913. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Boyd and attended the Boyd Schools. She was united in marriage to Milton Haugesag on July 18, 1935, in Milbank, South Dakota. To this union, Thomas and Jeannene were born. They lived in Dawson, except for a short time in Rock Rapids, Iowa, and Minneapolis, MN.
Olga enjoyed baking, sewing, rug making, crocheting, embroidery, and watching the Twins. She was employed at the Dawson Hospital and at the Johnson Memorial Home.
They moved from their home in Dawson to Golf View Apartments and in February of 1996, moved into Johnson Memorial Home. She remained there until her death on Wednesday, January 26, 2000, at the age of 86.
She is survived by her husband, "Miff" Haugesag of the Johnson Memorial Home; daughter, Jeannene (Keith) Simonson of Burnsville; daughter-in-law, Sharon (Robert) Sens of Mankato; 5 grandchildren: Jay Haugesag of Mankato, Cindy (Jim) Kenne of Mankato, Sonja (Mike) Lust of Mankato, Michael Simonson of New York City, and Sara (Larry) Miley of Burnsville; 7 great-grandchildren: Nathan & Nicole Kenne, Thomas Haugesag, and Megan, Morgan, Amanda, and Kirsten Lust; sister, Dorothy Benjamin of Willmar; brother, Sig Hassel of Grand Rapids, MN; and many nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Thomas Haugesag; brothers: Henrick and Ted Hassel; and sisters: Mabel Krogstad, Clara Reitzel, Helga Bossart, Laura Oman, and Alpha Fraser.
Olga's greatest gift was caring for her husband, Miff; son, Tom; daughter, Jeannene; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and most of all, graciously, welcoming friends into her home for a cup of coffee.
