Olga Hilden, of Montevideo, died on Wednesday, April 6, 2005 at the Chippewa County - Montevideo Hospital at the age of 89.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, April 9, 2005 at 1:30 PM at the Watson Lutheran Church with Rev. Larry Olson officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 5 - 7 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo and for one hour prior to the services at the church.
Olga (Molden) Hilden was born on May 19, 1915 in Chippewa County, MN to Eddy and Clara (Hanson) Molden. She graduated from Montevideo High School in 1932 and completed Normal Training at Windom College in Montevideo in 1934. She taught in rural schools for several years. On March 14, 1937 she was united in marriage to Joseph Hilden at the Watson Lutheran Parsonage. They lived on a farm north of Watson before moving to a farm south of Watson. In the early 1970s she moved to a home at 802 north 3rd St. in Montevideo and for the past several years has lived at the Paulson Apartments in Montevideo. She spent over 15 years working with the administrative staff at the Luther Haven Nursing Home. She was an active member of Watson Lutheran Church and was active as Sunday School Superintendent, in its Ladies Aid and with quilting. She loved to play cards, sew and work with hardanger.
She is survived by two daughters, Dr. Shirley Hilden of Rockville, MD and Joyce Christensen of Brush Prairie, WA; five grandchildren: Thor, Ivar, Kari, Arne and Margaret Christensen; a sister, Sylvia Hacker of Montevideo and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph in 1965; two sons: Robert and Aaron Hilden; by a sister, Margaret Christensen, and by a cousin, Caryl Denton who was raised as a brother.
