Olga Mathilda (Solem) Johnson

Olga M. Johnson, of Montevideo, died on Tuesday, May 19, 1998 at the Chippewa Co - Montevideo Hospital at the age of 95.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, May 23, 1998 at 1:30 P.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Alvin G. Lewis, Jr. officiating.  Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Granite Falls.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.

Olga Mathilda (Solem) Johnson was born on September 23, 1902 in Stony Run Township of Yellow Medicine Co., MN to Peder and Ingaborg (Olson) Solem.  She was baptized and confirmed at Bergen Lutheran Church and attended rural schools.  On May 2, 1929 she was united in marriage to Sylvan Johnson.  They farmed in Stony Run Township until Sylvan’s death in 1975.  Olga and her daughter Shirley moved to Montevideo in 1979, where she lived the remainder of her life.  She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and enjoyed flowers and gardening.

Olga is survived by a daughter - Shirley Alford of Montevideo and a son Darold Johnson and his wife Judy; a grand daughter - Michele Lori Johnson; and nieces - Idella Anderson of Granite Falls, MN and Florence Roe of Anderson, CA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Sylvan in 1975, a sister - Clara Aadland; sisters in infancy - Anna and Annette Solem; brothers - Palmer and Oscar Solem; a niece - Luella Wilson; a nephew - Percy Aadland and a son-in-law - Ralph Alford.
