Olive Kalstrom, of Montevideo, died on Thursday, March 17, 2005 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 104.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, March 21, 2005 at 11:00 AM at Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Watson, MN with Rev. Larry Olson officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon and evening and with the family from 4 - 6 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Olive Sophie (Torgerson) Kalstrom was born on May 29, 1900 in Big Bend Township of Chippewa County, MN to John and Mattie (Skogrand) Torgerson. She was baptized and confirmed at Big Bend Lutheran Church and graduated from Montevideo High School. On November 30, 1922 she was united in marriage to Walter Kalstrom at the Big Bend Lutheran Church. They farmed for many years in Big Bend Township. She worked for a time as a bookkeeper for the Bonde Garage in Montevideo, was a long-time active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and its women’s groups and served a number of years on the Chippewa County Welfare Board. She especially enjoyed gardening and flowers. She has been a resident at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo since 1990.
She is survived by two sons: David Kalstrom and Sharon of Jamestown, ND and Wilbur Kalstrom and Janice of St. Cloud, MN; three grandchildren: David, Kimberly and Shawna; three great-grandchildren: Anthony, Amber and Carley; and a sister, Sylvia Taylor of Appleton, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter in 1980; a grandson, three brothers and three sisters.
