Oliver Haugerud, 84, of Watson died October 9, 1994 at the Appleton Nursing Home in Appleton, MN.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 13, 1994 at 2:00 P.M. at Watson Lutheran Church. Rev. Robert Rendahl will officiate and interment will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home and at the church for one hour before services on Thursday. There will be a prayer service Wednesday evening at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Oliver Gerhard Haugerud was born July 25, 1910 in West Bank Township, Swift County, MN the son of Ole and Gertrude (Hanson) Haugerud. He was the fifth of ten children. Oliver was confirmed at Big Bend Lutheran Church. On October 17, 1938 he was united in marriage with Helen Dooley at Holloway, MN. They farmed in the Appleton - Big Bend area until 1946 when they moved to Watson. Oliver was then employed as a cement finisher by Peterson Bros. Construction until his retirement in 1965. Helen died May 9, 1990. Oliver had been a resident of the Appleton Nursing Home since August of 1993.
He is survived by two sons: Orvin and his wife Mary of Montevideo and Darrel and his wife Ruth of Clark, SD; four daughters: Gertrude Faber and her husband August of Lake Lillian; Joann Clark and her husband Jerry of Milbank, SD, Esther Lalim and her husband Harlan of Montevideo, and Dorothy Jean Tollakson and her husband Dale of Odessa; 22 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; four sisters: Clara Anderson of Montevideo, Ruth Bakke of Williston, ND, Lillian Anderson of Shawnee, OK, and Othelia Bernard of Meredith, NH; one brother, Joseph Haugerud of Montevideo; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Helen; one sister, Anna Geary; and three brothers: James, Melvin, and Andrew.
