Oliver Gordon Lanning

Oliver Lanning, 87, of Grantsburg, WI and formerly of Montevideo, MN, died March 27, 1996 at Burnett Medical Center Continuing Care in Grantsburg, WI.

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 1, 1996 at 1:30 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel.  Visitation will be held for two hours before services at the funeral home.  Rev. Warren Broughton will officiate and interment will at Sunset Memorial Cemetery.

Oliver Gordon Lanning was born December 23, 1908 in Sacred Heart, MN the son of John and Mary (Agre) Lanning.  He moved with his family to Montevideo in 1917.  He was united in marriage to Amanda Helgeson on May 5, 1930. They moved to Minneapolis in 1950.  Oliver worked for the Milwaukee Railroad.  In 1988 he moved to NW Wisconsin and in 1994 he entered Shady Knoll Board and Care.  He was an avid gardener and enjoyed inventing things.

He is survived by three daughters: Sonja Tyler-Wollschlager and her husband Lyle of Mahtowa, MN, Sharon Welch of Waldorf, MD, and Linda Hornung and her husband George of Siren, WI; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters: Sylvia Jurgens of Montevideo, MN and Vivian Miller of Monticello, MN; and a long time friend, Pearl Berg of Minneapolis, MN.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Amanda in 1954; one daughter, Carole Taylor; one grandson, George Welch; and two brothers: John and Ted.
