Oliver Oddan

Oliver Oddan, of rural Big Bend, MN died suddenly on Saturday August 24, 1996 at his home at the age of 81.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday August 28, 1996 at 11:00 A.M. at the Big Bend Lutheran Church with Rev. Kathryn Rothman officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon and evening and with the family from 7 - 8 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.

Oliver Oddan was born on April 30, 1915 in Big Bend Township of Chippewa Co., MN to Ole K. and Margretha (Olson) Oddan.  He was baptized and confirmed at the Big Bend Lutheran Church and attended District 17 schools and Appleton High School.  He was united in marriage to Virginia Nies on June 24, 1945 in Walker, MN.  He farmed the family farm in Big Bend Township for over 60 years.  He was a member of the Sons of Norway and was a former school board member of District 17.

He is survived by his wife - Virginia; by sons - Oliver Oddan of Roundup, MT; Stephen Oddan of Billings, MT and John Oddan of Milan, MN; by daughters - Linda Oddan of Wauwatosa, WI; Margaret Christiansen of St. Cloud, MN; and Mary Oddan of Hancock, MN; by grandchildren - Lance Oddan; Jennifer Bjork; Sara, Jamie and Katie Oddan; Kelly and Kyle Christiansen; and John Oddan, Jr.; as well as by a sister - Mattie Emery of Winsted, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 infant children; and by sisters - Mathilda Goulson; Olga Anderson and Annie Pedersen.
