Olpher, age 77, of rural Montevideo, & his wife, Gloria died on Monday, August 11, 1997 as a result of an automobile accident near Montevideo.
Funeral services were conducted on Friday, August 15, 1997 at 1:30 P.M. at the Watson Lutheran Church in Watson with Rev. Harold Knutson officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Olpher Cyrus Hoff was born on May 26, 1920 in Tunsberg Township of Chippewa Co., MN to Lauritz and Alvina (Hagen) Hoff. He was baptized and confirmed at Watson Lutheran Church and graduated from Montevideo High School in 1938. He served in the US Army during WWII.
Olpher and Gloria (Zempel) were united in marriage on October 7, 1952 in Watertown, SD. Following a short time in Milan and in Lac Qui Parle Co., they moved to a farm in Chippewa Co. near Watson, MN, where they farmed. He was a member of Watson Lutheran Church. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion.
He is survived by a daughter, Jean Quigley and her husband Phillip of Montevideo; by a son, Wayne Hoff and his wife Jonell of Montevideo; and grandchildren, Dean, Bryan and Justin Quigley of Montevideo, by a brother, Russell Hoff and his wife Kay of Montevideo and a sister, Helga Hoff of Montevideo. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers - Alvin, Leslie and Sidney Hoff; a great grandson - Phillip Michael Quigley and a nephew - Mark Hoff.
