Orean Jordahl, of Montevideo, died on Friday, April 25, 2014 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 84.
Memorial Services will be conducted on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Marie Eckberg officiating. Entombment will be in Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 5-7:00 PM at the Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Orean O. Jordahl was born on August 7, 1929 in Baxter Township of Lac qui Parle County, MN to Thore B. and Grace (Moseng) Jordahl. He was baptized at Our Saviours Lutheran Church of Baxter, confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Dawson, attended Dawson Public Schools and in 1948 graduated from Dawson High School. On April 23, 1950 he was united in marriage to RoseDelle Janke in Dawson. They lived in Dawson until moving to Montevideo in 1966. Orean served in the National Guard for eight years, reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant. He worked for over forty years as a crop adjuster, adjusting in fourteen states and Canada before retiring at the age of 83. He was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo and was a member of the American Legion. Orean enjoyed spending time with family and friends and anything about history. He will be fondly remembered for his quick wit, his love of telling stories and his memory of names, places and all trivia items. He spoke frequently of the many trips and travels with his wife Rose.
He is survived by his three children: Brad (and Deb) Jordahl of Webster City, IA; Karen (and O’Neil) Sherod and Kevin Jordahl, both of Montevideo; four grandchildren: Tracy (and Nick Dolce) Jordahl of Davis, CA; Erika (and Denny) Corneilison of Webster City, IA; Jerrod Jordahl of Ames, IA and Bryan Jordahl of New Brighton, MN; one great grandchild; two brothers: Vern (and Jan) Jordahl of Montevideo and Gordy (and Colleen) Jordahl of Dawson; a sister, Beatrice (and Harold) Hoppe of Montevideo; a sister-in-law, Glenice Costa of Tracy, CA, as well as by a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death and is being welcomed in Heaven by his parents; his wife, RoseDelle, who died in 1986, and a granddaughter, Jennifer Rose Sherod, who died in 2009.
