Orel Williamson of Montevideo, died on Wednesday, May 25, 2005 at the Clara City Nursing Home at the age of 89.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, May 28, 2005 at 10:30 AM at the United Methodist Church in Montevideo with Rev. Paul Woolverton officiating. Interment will be in Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens, rural Montevideo. Visitation will be held Friday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo with the family present from 5:30-7:30 PM and a prayer service at 7:00 PM.
Orel (Gullord) Williamson was born January 24, 1916 at Elmwood, WI the daughter of Earl and Fauna (Whipp) Gullord. Soon after her birth, her parents divorced. Her mother later married Otis Stover. Orel attended school in Montevideo. On May 31, 1934 she was united in marriage to Dayton Williamson in Sturgis, SD. They farmed until retiring into Montevideo in 1971. Dayton died August 23, 1988. Orel continued living in their home until 1996 when she moved to Brookside Manor. She became a resident of the Clara City Care Center in 1997. Orel loved flowers, especially violets and glads, and gardening. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing cards, canning, cooking, and loved to entertain. Orel was a member of the Jolly Dozen Birthday Club, and the United Methodist Church, where she was active in Circle and Women’s Group.
She is survived by four children: DeWayne Williamson and his wife Toni of Montevideo, MN; LeRoy Williamson and his wife Carol of Montevideo, MN; Karen Hermanson and her husband DeWayne of Boyd, MN and Marie Dieken and her husband Merrell of Willmar, MN; thirteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and one brother, Richard (Delores) Stover of Rosemount, MN.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Dayton; three sisters: Mildred Scheltens, Carmen Gullord, and Margaret Akervold; and one brother, Harold Stover.
