Orville Ellingson

October 19, 1913 — October 2, 1993

Orville Ellingson was born on October 19, 1913 in Mandt Township of Chippewa Co., Minnesota to Jens and Ragna Ellingson.  He was baptized and confirmed at the Mandt Lutheran Church and attended rural schools. He served in the U S Army during WWII.  He was united in marriage to Lucile Telkamp on September 12, 1958 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo.  He farmed for many years in Mandt Township before retiring in 1987 and moving into Montevideo. He was a member of Mandt Lutheran Church and served on it's Boards, Committees, and served as an usher, was a member of the Farmers Union, National Farmers Organization, American Legion, and VFW.

Orville died on October 2, 1993 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 79.  He is survived by his wife Lucile; by brothers - Julian of Watson,Mn.; Calmer of Benson,Mn.; Verdie of Moorhead,Mn.; and Russell of Granite Falls, Mn.; by sisters - Sylvia Retrum and Idella Erickson of Benson, Mn. and Bertina Gustafson of Montevideo, Mn.; by a sister-in-law - Cecil Ellingson of Benson, Mn.; as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by a brother - George in 1986.


Funeral Services - Tuesday October 5 at 1:30 P.M. at the Mandt Lutheran Church with Rev. Gregory Gabriel officiated.  Burial was in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Montevideo.
