Orville Tollakson of Dawson, MN died Friday, September 19, 2014 at the Johnson Memorial Care Center in Dawson, MN at the age of 85.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Grace  Lutheran Church in Dawson.  Pastor Kendall Stelter will officiate and interment will be in Grace Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday  from 5-7:00  PM at the Johnson Memorial Care Center Chapel with a prayer service at 5:00 PM. Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson is in charge of the arrangements.

Orville James Tollakson was born on January 4, 1929 in Madison, MN to James and Marie (Opedahl) Tollakson. He was baptized and confirmed at Providence Valley Lutheran Church and attended Rural School  District 59.  On August 31, 1959 he was united in marriage to Alice (Gruhot) Beck in Marshall, MN. To this union five children were born: Larry, David, John, Tony, and Janet.  He also loved his two step-children: Susan and Butch as his own.  He farmed in rural Dawson and owned and operated his own trucking company. Orville loved to watch Minnesota Vikings football, Wheel of Fortune, Cash Cab, and John Wayne films.  He also enjoyed raising cattle and other livestock, traveling to Arizona, dancing, and storytelling.

He is survived by his wife: Alice of Dawson, MN; four children: Larry Tollakson (Jackie Haukos), David Tollakson, Tony (Terri) Tollakson, and Janet Tollakson; two step-children: Susan Kuchera (Tom McCammon) and Robert “Butch” (Pam) Beck; 7 grandchildren: Jamie, Eric, Alicia, Danielle, Courtney, Kyle, and Angela; eight great grandchildren: Chastin, Chandler, Carmen, Thea, Skylar, Landen, Jaden, and Clara; a sister, Madalyn Gustufson; brothers: Kenneth Tollakson and Roger Tollakson; and many other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, John in 1979; grandsons: Jesse Tollakson in 2012 and Travis Boerboom in 1976, a brother, Lawrence Eugene Tollakson; and a sister and brother-in-law, Grace (Mel) Thompson.
