Oscar C. Bourne, of Montevideo, died on Sunday, November 28, 1999 at the Chippewa County - Montevideo Hospital at the age of 85.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, December 1, 1999 at 1:30 PM at Immanuel Lutheran Church of rural Watson, MN with Rev. Larry Olson officiating. Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 - 8 PM with a prayer service at 7:30 PM at Salem Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Anderson Funeral Home of Montevideo is in charge of funeral arrangements.
Oscar Clarence Bourne was born on February 16, 1914 in Montevideo, MN to Oscar and Clara (Lund) Bourne, Sr. He was baptized on March 17, 1914 and confirmed on Sept. 16, 1928, both at Immanuel Lutheran Church of rural Watson, MN. He attended rural schools. On September 14, 1952 he was united in marriage to Esther Buchholz at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Montevideo. They lived and farmed in Rosewood Township before moving to Montevideo in 1990. He began selling insurance in 1964 and sold for over 25 years before retiring. He was a life-long member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and was a member of it’s church choir, a Sunday School Teacher & Superintendent, a Deacon and also served on the governing board of the church. He was a member of the Montevideo Male Chorus and enjoyed singing, sports, gardening and nature.
He is survived by his wife, Esther; two daughters: Cynthia Boehlke and her husband Allen of Mankato, MN and Colleen Hirman and her husband James of Elk River, MN; three grandchildren: Liesl, Carissa and John Hirman; two sisters: Violet Cordingley of Clara City, MN and Adeline Loberg of Willmar, MN; as well as by a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Henry Bourne; and two sisters: Anna Huth and Harriet Davidson.
