Oscar Berven, of Montevideo, died on Thursday April 13, 1995 at the Chippewa Co- Montevideo Hospital at the age of 92.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday April 15, 1995 at 1:30 P.M. at Watson Lutheran Church with Rev. Robert Rendahl officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday afternoon and evening and with the family from 6:30 - 8:00 P.M.at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Oscar E. Berven was born on July 18, 1902 in Swift Co., MN to Elling and Anna (Aarhus) Berven. He was baptized and confirmed at Big Bend Lutheran church and attended school at District 78 in Swenoda Township of Swift Co. He attended Park Region Lutheran College in Fergus Falls, MN. He was united in marriage to Alice M. Larson on May 29, 1928 at her home in Big Bend, MN. He farmed for many years in Big Bend Township before retiring in 1974 and moving into Milan.. He moved to Brookside Manor in Montevideo in 1986. He was a member of Watson Lutheran Church and had been a member of the Farmers Union.
He is survived by sons - James Berven and his wife Beverly of Montevideo; and David Berven and his wife Diane of Milan; by a daughter Beatrice Olson and her husband Dennis of Montevideo; 10 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; by sisters - Edith Norby of Appleton, MN.; and Myrtle Anderson of Fergus Falls, MN.; as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife Alice in 1985, by a sister Martha Ostby; by brothers - Walter and Hjalmar Berven; and by a brother in infancy.
