Oscar "Rudy" Swenson, 90, of Montevideo died April 15, 1996 at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 19, at 1:30 P.M. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Rev. Warren Broughton and Rev. Lois Knutson will officiate and interment will be at Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Thursday, afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. There will also be visitation at the church for one hour before services on Friday.
Oscar R. Swenson was born March 5, 1906 at Berthold, ND the son of Hans and Josephine (Laumb) Swenson. He was confirmed at Jevnaker Lutheran Church. He served in the Marine Corps for 4 years. Rudy worked Manufactor's Handover Trust in New York, NY later to be known as the Chemical Bank until his retirement in 1968. He was united in marriage with Alma Anderson on May 2, 1969 at Watertown, SD. They made their home in Montevideo and he moved to Luther Haven in 1995.
He is survived by his wife, Alma; one daughter, Sylvia Reinhimer and her husband Clifford of Ridge, NY; one step-daughter, Arlene Hubel of Marshall, MN; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters: Sylvia Tengvall of St. Paul, MN and Bernetta Velde of Montevideo, MN; one brother, Ted Swenson of Danvers, MN.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two sisters: Gertrude Brooks and Hazel Bjornjeld; and four brothers: John, Harry, Gust, and Martin.
