Palma Moseng,died early Saturday, March 19, 2011, at the Johnson Memorial Care Center in Dawson, at the age of 101. Visitation: Thursday, March 24, from 4-6 PM with a prayer service at 5PM at the Johnson Memorial Care Center in Dawson. Funeral service: 2:00 PM, Friday, March 25, at the Our Saviour's Lutheran Church of Baxter with Pastor Willie Rosin officiating; organist, Linda Sandbakken accompanied the singing of "What A Friend We Have In Jesus" and "Beautiful Savior"; "In the Garden" and "One Day At A Time" were sung as a duet by Mavis Hutt and Paul Strand. Wayne Klosterboer, Eugene Moseng, Russell Moseng, Gordon Sandbakken, Paul Strand and Norman Viken were casketbearers and burial was in the church cemetery. Palma Pleanora Moseng was born on February 10, 1910, in Lisbon Township, rural Clarkfield, to Peder and Minnie (Iverson) Anderson. She was baptized and confirmed at Bergen Lutheran Church and attended school at District 77 and in Clarkfield. Palma and Oscar E. Moseng were united in marriage on June 29, 1932, at a parsonage in Hazel Run, MN. Marlys and Elaine were born to this union. They farmed north of Boyd for 42 years when they moved into Dawson in 1973. After Oscar died on January 13, 1986, Palma remained in their trailer until moving to Riverside Manor in 2003 and on April 7, 2006, she entered the Johnson Memorial Care Center where she died early on Saturday morning, March 19, 2011, at the age of 101 years, 1 month and 9 days. Palma was active in various groups of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church of Baxter and served as President of the Ladies Aide. She also gave rides to many to church activities and Sunday services. She enjoyed quilting, making rugs on her loom, sewing and making clothes, crocheting, baking, making spritz cookies, lefse, krumkaka, doughnuts and home-made brown sugar. She also enjoyed listening to music, playing the organ and piano, and playing bingo at the care center. Palma was a kind and gentle person who was devoted to family and friends. When asked her secret to such a long life, she replied "I take one day at a time." She is survived by two daughters: Elaine Haakenson, of Dawson and Marlys (Kenneth) Carey, of Lamberton, MN; 7 grandchildren: Kenny (Kate) Johnsrud, Duane (Lori) Johnsrud, Larry Carey and Alan Carey; Randy Haakenson, Kevin (Carol) Haakenson and Becky Lundy; 18 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren: Derek Carey and his daughter, Mackenzie; Tiffany Carey and her daughter, Mariah; David Carey, Tyler Carey and Dylan Carey; Jessica Carey, Jamie (Bridget) Carey and their children, Rylea and Madden; Jordan Carey; Sara Haakenson, Matt Haakenson and Emily (David) Freeman; Nicholas and friend, Jen Bardwell and their daughter, Lexis; Kayla (Greg) Smith and their daughter, Adleigh; Devin Haakenson and Amber Haakenson; Brandon Lundy, Dustin Lundy and Courtney Lundy; other family and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Oscar; 2 sisters: Cordilia Klosterboer and Myrtle Holum; brother, Manfred Anderson; and 2 sons-in-law: David Johnsrud and Harlan Haakenson. We will miss her very much. Blessed be her memory.
