Palmer Lynne

May 30, 1915 — January 2, 1994

Palmer Oliver Lynne was born on May 30, 1915 in Mandt Township of Chippewa Co., Minnesota to Gilbert and Cara Lynne.  He was baptized and confirmed at Jevnaker Lutheran Church and attended rural schools. He spent some time working for CCC's.  Palmer was united in marriage to Della May Dew on May 31, 1942 at the Methodist Church in Montevideo. He farmed for several years in Mandt Township of Chippewa Co., MN; for about 5 years in Stony Run Township in Yellow Medicine Co., MN and in 1953 moved back to the family farm in Mandt Township.  He semi-retired from farming in 1978 and in 1983 moved into Montevideo.  He was a member of Jevnaker Lutheran Church where he served as a Trustee, a Deacon, and as the Luther Haven delegate; was active in the Farmers Union and had served as the local president; and served on the District 310 School Board.  Palmer loved to do volunteer work and was always available to help neighbors and friends when necessary.

He is survived by his wife, Della; three sons: Bruce of Goldsboro, NC, Steven and his wife Sachiko of Okinawa, Japan, and Scott and his wife June of Montevideo, MN; two daughters: Kathryn Knoshal and her husband Dale and Marsha Walstrom and her husband Steven - both of Montevideo, MN; 9 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Mabel Burg and Gladyce Larson - both of Montevideo, MN; one brother, Joseph Lynne of Montevideo; as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a son, Wayne in 1989; a grandson, Lane; two sisters: Martha Saue and Ida Saue; and one brother, Clifford Lynne.

Palmer died on January 2, 1994 at the Chippewa Co-Montevideo Hospital at the age of 78.  May his memory be blessed.


Funeral Services - Wednesday January 5  1:30 P.M.  - Jevnaker Lutheran Church near Montevideo, Mn. with Rev. Gregory Gabriel officiating.  Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Montevideo.  Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon and evening with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral  Home in Montevideo.
