Palmer Sandbakken, formerly of the Montevideo area, died on Tuesday evening-December 27, 1994 at the Wedgewood Health Care Center in Inver Grove Heights, Mn. at the age of 58. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday December 30, 1994 at Our Saviours Lutheran Church of Baxter with Rev. Wayne Mensing officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Palmer Morris Sandbakken was born on December 7, 1936 in Baxter Township of Lac Qui Parle Co., Minnesota to Obert and Edna Sandbakken. He was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviours Lutheran Church of Baxter and graduated from Montevideo High School in 1954. He entered the US Army in January 1955 and served for 3 years. Following his discharge in January of 1958, he attended the University of Minnesota for two years. He started working for the Milwaukee Railroad and later the Soo Line Railroad, working for 33 years. He was living in St. Paul, Mn. and had been a resident of the Wedgewood Health Care Center in Inver Grove Heights, Mn. for the past month.
He is survived by brothers - Conrad and Harlan (Linda) Sandbakken of Montevideo; by a sister - Carolyn (Maurice) Nokleby of Apple Valley, Mn.; as well as by 5 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1986 and by his mother in 1979.
