Pat Bakkelund, of Montevideo, died Sunday, July 23, 2017 at the Chippewa County - Montevideo Hospital at the age of 62.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Clarkfield Lutheran Church. Vicar Matt Danielson will officiate and burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Montevideo.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 26 from 5-7:00 PM at the Anderson - TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo with a prayer service at 6:30 PM. There will also be visitation for one hour before the service at the church.
Patricia Gayle (Smolley) Bakkelund was born on July 17, 1955 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis to Abner and Shirley (Claggett) Smolley. She grew up in Clarkfield and attended school in Clarkfield graduating in the Class of 1973. She then attended Moorhead State University and earned her Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. She married Jerome Bakkelund on October 5, 1991 at Clarkfield Lutheran Church.
Pat worked as a social worker at the Clarkfield Care Center for over 30 years. The residents loved her and she loved the residents as well as her fellow co-workers. Pat also enjoyed gardening, knitting, reading, shopping, antiquing, dining out, and piano. She cherished her time spent with family and friends.
Pat is survived by her husband, Jerome; her children: Elizabeth Bakkelund (Joshua Boots) of Dawson, MN, Bryce Bakkelund of Montevideo, MN and Brook Bakkelund of Montevideo; brother, James (Gail) Smolley of Clarkfield, MN; as well as other extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Abner and Shirley Smolley.
