Patricia JoAnn (Moe) Gabrielson was born June 30, 1964 in Robbinsdale, MN to Robert and Marvis (Moseng) Moe. She was the youngest of five children. Patty was baptized December 22, 1964 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Osseo and confirmed May 6, 1979 at Zion Lutheran Church in Appleton. In high school, she was a track star, breaking several school and state records and taking home many trophies and medals. Patty graduated from Appleton High School in 1982. On May 9, 1981, she married her high school sweetheart, Curtis Gabrielson at Zion Lutheran Church in Appleton. Their union was blessed with the births of their three children: Brooke, LeRoy, and Andrew. Patty was a stay at home mom until the children were in school and went on to accomplish several wonderful careers. She was a nursing assistant at Luther Haven, was manager of the Country Inn & Suites in Montevideo, and was a sales person at the radio station in Benson. She found her niche when she was the manager of Sew Busy in Montevideo and decided to open her own embroidery shop, Neon Needles. After getting the business up and running, her health took a turn and she was forced to stay at home. She was an extremely proud wife, mom and “Mama” (granddaughter Elizabeth was born in November of 2003) who enjoyed every minute of family time she could get whether it was sporting events, hunting, traveling, being at the lake or just quiet time. She also enjoyed embroidery, crocheting, gardening, farming and animals, and spending time with friends.
Patty’s passing ended her 3 ½ year battle with Inflammatory Breast Cancer. She struggled through 450 doctors appointments including over 175 chemo treatments, 12 weeks of radiation treatments, and five surgeries in hopes of a remission. She was welcomed into the Lord’s hands to end her suffering.
She is survived by her husband, Curtis; three children: Brooke Person and her husband Curt of Renville, MN, LeRoy Gabrielson of Alexandria, MN, and Andrew Gabrielson of Appleton, MN; one granddaughter, Elizabeth “Peanut” Gabrielson of Alexandria, MN; her mother, Marvis Moe of Appleton, MN; her mother-in-law, Pearl Gabrielson of Milan, MN; four siblings: Connie (John) Stock of Correll, MN, Debbie (Brian) Wilkening of Correll, MN, Janice (Wendell) Schmidt of Holloway, MN, and Robert Moe of Appleton, MN; and several nieces and nephews.
She was welcomed into heaven with open arms by her father-in-law, Maurice Gabrielson; her father; one sister-in-law; three brothers-in-law; great-grandparents; and aunts and uncles.
