Paul Edward Adams was born January 15, 1915 in Montevideo, MN to Charles Adams and Bernice (Pike) Adams.  He spent his entire life in Montevideo.  He started his working years on the Milwaukee Railroad as a brakeman.  In 1939, he married Evelyn Solberg, and moved to a farm north of Montevideo, where he began farming.  He continued farming but also worked as a salesman for the Offerman Hatchery in Montevideo.  He finally quit farming altogether, and worked for the Chippewa County Library as a bookmobile driver.  He retired in 1977, but continued working part time as a school bus driver for the Simon Olson bus company.  He and Evelyn had 2 children, Robert Adams of Custer, SD, and Mary Davis of Meridian, ID.

Paul enjoyed traveling and he and Evelyn coordinated several travel tours around the country as well as to Hawaii.  He and Evelyn traveled to Norway to visit Evelyn’s relatives there.

Paul was involved in the Knights of Columbus, holding the position of Grand Knight at one time, and Lion Clubs International, receiving the Melvin Jones Fellow award.  He was also involved in Boy Scouts as a leader and participated in several camps and National Jamborees, recognized at the Vigil Honor level of the Order of the Arrow, and received the Silver Beaver Award for leadership.  He participated in barbershop harmony singing for several years, and at Christmas time could be found playing Santa for community and family gatherings.

Mary’s interest was horses, and Paul took her on several trail rides as far away as the Black Hills of SD.

Paul held a private pilot’s license and flew light planes out of the Montevideo airport for several years.   He and Evelyn enjoyed square dancing, gardening, fishing, and later in life he enjoyed bow hunting, and golf.

After retirement, Paul and Evelyn sold the farm, moved to town and began traveling in their motor home.  After Evelyn passed away, Paul spent several winters with his motor home or 5th wheel camper in Florida, and summers in Minnesota.

As his health declined, he moved to Idaho to be closer to Mary who watched over his needs.

Paul was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn, a brother Donald, and a sister Catherine.  He is survived by son Robert (Karen), daughter Mary (Jim), 3 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and close friend Jan Sanders.
