P. Donald Haugland, of Watson, died on Monday, September 3, 2001 at his home at the age of 74.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, September 6, 2001 at 11:00 AM at the Watson Lutheran Church with Rev. Larry Olson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon and evening, with the family from 5 - 7 PM and with a prayer service at 7 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Paul Donald Haugland was born on February 5, 1927 in Watson, MN to Palmer and Marie (Welte) Haugland. He was baptized and confirmed at Watson Lutheran Church, attended grade school in Watson and graduated from Montevideo High School in 1945. He served in the US Army from 1946 - 1947. On August 27, 1950, he was united in marriage to Joan Rosen in Montevideo. He farmed for his entire life before retiring. He was a lifelong resident of the Watson, MN area and was a lifelong member of the Watson Lutheran Church. He enjoyed following the Minnesota Vikings, Twins and Gophers, hunting, fishing, camping with his family and the Rollag Steam Threshers Reunion.
He is survived by his wife, Joan; four children: Mary Simonson and her husband Gene of Plainview, MN, Sara Tjosaas and her husband Gary of Moorhead, MN, John Haugland and his wife Cindy of Hutchinson, MN and Betsy Marko and her husband Jeff of Montevideo, MN; 10 grandchildren: Matt, Alyssa and Molly Tjosaas, Rachael and Dillon Anderson and Kirsten Haugland, and Nathanial, Amy, Laura and Zachariah Marko; one sister, Sylvia Ring and her husband Herbert of Mohall, ND; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Archie Haugland; and one sister, Carol Franta.
