Paul D. Johnson died Saturday, January 31, 2015 at the Johnson Memorial Home in Dawson at the age of 92.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 6, 2015 at Providence Valley Lutheran Church, rural Dawson. Pastor Phil Kettering will officiate and interment will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held for one hour before the services at the church on Friday.
Paul Donald Johnson was born July 9, 1922 in Maxwell Township, Lac qui Parle County, MN the son of Rueben and Ida (Anderson) Johnson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Providence Valley Lutheran Church. He completed 8th grade in rural District # 72, then helped his parents farm. In 1944 he was drafted into service. He served in the Navy two years. His fist ship was a AKA amphibious ship that carried troops and landing crafts. He was a signal man on the landing crafts, but never saw action on any of the ships he was on. He was discharged in 1946 and came home to help on the farm until 1948 when he and his twin brother, Roger took over the farm. After Roger left for Califoria in 1952 Paul stayed on the farm until 2009 when he entered the Johnson Memorial Home. Paul was active on church council and was an usher for many years, a member of Dawson American Legion and VFW. He was an avid bowler and was on leagues from 1939 - 2000, and liked to hunt pheasants.
He is survived by: nieces: Bonnie Knutson and Kathryn Knutson; and a nephew, Dale Knutson.
Preceding him in death were his parents, mother in 1975 and father in 1984; his twin brother, Roger in 1994; and a sister, Theresa Knutson in 2012.
