Peter Wilhelm Christensen

Peter Christensen, of Appleton, died on Tuesday May 28, 1996 at the Appleton Hospital at the age of 87.

Memorial services will be conducted on Thursday May 30, 1996  at 1:00 PM at the Bethel Evangelical Free Church of Appleton with Rev. Vernon Jenson officiating.  Burial will be in the Appleton City Cemetery.

Peter Wilhelm Christensen was born on October 14, 1908 in Stranton, Colorado to Jes and Margreth (Andresen) Christensen.  He moved to Chicago, IL with his family in 1912 and to the Milan, MN area in 1918.  In 1924 he moved to Appleton and has resided there since.  Peter was united in marriage to Esther Bryan on February 14, 1934 in Appleton.  He worked as a Master A electrician for many years before retiring in 1972.  He was a member of the Appleton Fire Department for 20 years and in 1956 he helped start the Bethel Evengelical Free Church in Appleton, of which he is a member and has served in several leadership positions.  He enjoyed gardening, and restoring and refitting old machinery.

He is survived by two daughters: Amy Ayers and her husband Phil of Freeland, WA and Jane Skaar and her husband Jon of Tripp, SD; two sons: Todd Christensen of St. Paul, MN and Kim Christensen and his wife Marcia of Faribault, MN; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, J.N. "Bud" Christensen of Appleton, MN; and one sister, Margaret Harrison of Fayetteville, AR.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Esther in 1995; one son Lee, one daughter, Sara Jo, and one sister, Cecelia Hendricks.
