Phoenix Burmeister, of rural Montevideo, died on Sunday, December 2, 2012 at her home at the age of 7. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at 1:30 P.M. at Big Bend Lutheran Church with Rev. Keith Long officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon and evening with the family present from 4 - 7 P.M. and with a 7:00 P.M. prayer service, all at the Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Phoenix Lee Burmeister was born on January 18, 2005 in Granite Falls, MN to Jesse and Kelly (Haaland) Burmeister. She was in Mrs. Kling’s Second Grade Class at Ramsey School in Montevideo. She could always make you laugh and loved music and Sponge Bob. She liked being with children and watching them play. She enjoyed dancing, watching polkas and liked to sit and cuddle.
She is survived by her parents, Jesse and Kelly; maternal grandparents, Terry and Marcia Haaland of Houghton, SD; paternal grandparents, Terry and Cheryl Burmeister of Montevideo; a great grandfather, Harlan Ferguson of Huron, SD; uncles and aunts: Kyle Haaland of Houghton, SD; Tony and Alicia Burmeister and their children Averie and Anya of Volga, SD, and Philip Burmeister and Mindy Winn and their children Farrah, Amanda and Summer of Clinton, MN.
She was preceded in death by her great grandparents: Margaret Ferguson, Merril “Herkimer” Haaland, Clinton and Leona Payne and Lloyd Burmeister; a cousin, Jacob Burmeister, a great Uncle Dean “Snowflake” Haaland and by a great-aunt, Judy Olson.
