Phyllis Elaine Christianson was born October 7, 1922, the daughter of Arthur and Hilma (Wallem) Hullstrom. She was baptized and confirmed at the Riverside Lutheran Church by Pastor P.O. Wee. She attended Dawson Public School and graduated in 1940.
On June 2, 1946, Phyllis was united in marriage to Rueben Christianson at the Riverside Lutheran Church in Dawson. Phyllis was employed at the Norwest Bank for 40 years and had attained the position of Vice President at the time of her retirement.
Phyllis took great pride in her home and church. She loved baking and sharing with her family and friends. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, V.F.W. Auxiliary, and Home Makers Club.
Phyllis passed away suddenly at the Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD, on Wednesday, May 27, 1998, at the age of 75 years, 7 months, and 20 days.
She is survived by her husband Rueben; one sister, Helen Anderson and husband, Wendell, of Dawson; one sister-in-law, Irene (Hullstrom) Bremseth of Dawson; one brother-in-law, Harvey Engkjer of Weslaco, TX; 3 nieces and 6 nephews; and other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Hilma Hullstrom; one sister, LuVonne Engkjer; and one brother, Earl Hullstrom.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 am, Saturday, May 30, 1998, at the Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson with Pastor's Paul Christopher and Kendall Stelter officiating. A greeting on behalf of the family was given by nephew, Pastor Blair Anderson. The scriptures used for the message were Psalm 111, I Peter 1:3-8, and Luke 24:36,44-48. Pastor Paul Chrisopher sang "On Eagle's Wings" as a vocal solo. The congregational hymns of "O Day Full of Grace" and "My Hope Is Built On Nothing Less" were accompanied by the organist, Lynette Foss. The casketbearers were nephews: Pastor Blair Anderson, Alan Anderson, Dennis Hullstrom, Bruce Engkjer, Gary Engkjer, and Wane Engkjer and interment was in the Dawson Cemetery in Dawson.
