Phyllis Kranz, 70, of Montevideo, died October 29, 1999 at her home in Montevideo.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 2, 1999 at 11:00 A.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Rev. Michael Briggs will officiate and interment will be at Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be held Monday after 4:00 P.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo, with the family present from 6-8:00 P.M. and with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M.
Phyllis Audrey Kranz was born July 24, 1929 in Chippewa County, MN the daughter of William and Marie (Uttermark) Groothuis. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City. Phyllis was united in marriage with Charles Kranz August 15, 1948 at Immanuel Lutheran Church. They farmed near Montevideo and Watson before moving into Montevideo in 1966. She worked as a waitress at Trailways. They later moved to Hopkins in 1970 and she worked as a prepcook at Baker’s Square and Pop ‘N Fresh. They moved back to Montevideo in the fall of 1989. She had been a member of Trinity Lutheran Church for many years.
She is survived by her husband, Charles; four children: Karla Larson of St. Louis Park, MN, Steven Kranz and his wife Karen of Long Lake, MN, Brian Kranz and his wife Carolyn of Eau Claire, WI, and Barbara Huntley and her husband Gary of Montevideo, MN; seven grandchildren: Michael and Tami Huntley, Kimberly Penke, Jennifer Larson, Patrick Larson, Nathan Kranz, Dalton Kranz, and Aaron Kranz; one great-granddaughter, Kerri Penke; two brothers: Leo Groothuis of Fargo, ND and Bob (JoAnn) Groothuis of Golden Valley, MN; seven sisters: Eleanor (Phillip) Stager of Clara City, MN, Carol Groothuis of Minneapolis, MN, Arleen Bussian of West Salem, WI, Lola (Russell) Kranz of Montevideo, MN, Julene (Pete) Howard of Montevideo, MN, Mary (Hank) Kawell of Wheaton, IL, and Edde Kuehl of Moorhead, MN; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents and an infant brother, Lyle Groothuis.
