Phyllis Louise (Sather) Olson

October 23, 1927 — October 19, 2000

Phyllis Louise Olson was born October 23, 1927, in Dawson, MN, the daughter of Henry and Helma (Aasen) Sather.  She was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Dawson.  Phyllis graduated from Dawson High School in 1945, attended Minneapolis School of Nursing and interned at Glenwood Hills.  After graduating, she worked as a Registered Nurse at Johnson Memorial Hospital for 34 years.  She was united in marriage with Dwain Olson on January 8, 1951, at Minneapolis, MN.  To this union three daughters were born.  Dwain and Phyllis farmed in rural Montevideo until retiring in 1984.  Phyllis was very active over the years in the Sons of Norway, American Legion, VFW, and Grace Lutheran Church Circle.  She was an avid bowler in both Montevideo and Granite Falls for over 50 years.  As secretary for the League, she coordinated many tournaments for both state and national bowling.  She also enjoyed crocheting, camping, playing cards, and visiting with family and friends.  Phyllis passed away suddenly Thursday, October 19, 2000 at the Johnson Memorial Hospital in Dawson at the age of 72 years, 11 months, and 26 days.
She is survived by her husband, Dwain; three daughters: Geraldine (Bob) Dieken of Clara City, MN, Pauline (Mike) Sager of Burnsville, MN, and Colleen (Al) Marcus of Redwood Falls, MN; three grandchildren: Allan Dieken, Cheryl Dieken, and Hunter Sager; one great-grandson, Dominick Dieken;  two brothers: Marvin Sather and Kermit (Dona) Sather of Dawson; and nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents and one brother, Harry Sather and his wife Dorothy.
