Polly (Torgerson) Triggs

August 14, 1916 — July 13, 2013

Polly Triggs, of Montevideo, died on July 13, 2013 at the Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital at the age of 96.  Memorial services will be conducted on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at 2:30 PM at the Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo with Pastor Marie Eckberg officiating.

Polly (Torgerson) Triggs was born on August 14, 1916 in Big Bend Township of Chippewa County, MN to Daniel and Amanda (Pederson) Torgerson.  Polly attended and graduated from Milan High School.  She attended normal training in Madison, MN.  After college, she taught at rural school.  In 1938, Polly and Harold Triggs were united in marriage and made their home in Montevideo.  After Harold returned from WWII, they moved to Appleton, MN and opened a dry cleaning business.  In 1952, Harold passed away and Polly continued to live in Appleton.  She later moved to Montevideo in the 1990's.  Polly was an excellent cook and very musical.  Polly was enthusiastic about Big Bend Jamboree and an active member in the “Old Hats” singing group.

She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Stevens of Montevideo, MN; 4 grandchildren: Julie Stevens, Mike Stevens, Jillianne Stevens, and Kim (David) Newbury; 2 great-grandchildren: Sarah and Claire; sister in law, Lois Torgerson Benson; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold; her parents; her daughter, Kathy Marquardt; brothers; Walter, Arnold, Rudolph, Leo, and Alfred; and sisters Gladys, Ruth, Adelaide, Dagny, and Ales.
