Quinten Abel, of Clara City, died on February 8, 2004 at Chippewa County - Montevideo Hospital at the age of 82.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, February 11, 2004 at 1:30 PM at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City with the Rev. David J. Webster officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Montevideo. Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon and evening and with the family present from 6 - 7:00 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Quinten Fred Abel was born on June 25, 1921 in Havelock Township of Chippewa County, MN to Emil and Freda (Schwarzburg) Abel. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City, MN, and attended rural schools. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII from 1943-1945 and was stationed in the Pacific Theatre. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 380 in Montevideo and also a member of the American Legion Post of Clara City. He farmed in Havelock Township over 50 years before retiring. He became a resident of Prairie Park Place in Clara City 4 years ago. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and during his active years he enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially his trips to Alaska and Canada.
He is survived by three brothers: Wilbur Abel and his wife Margaret of Watson, MN, Kenneth Abel of Seattle, WA, and Earl Abel and his wife Rose of Blaine, MN; two sisters: Shirley Davis of Montevideo, MN and Dora Redal and her husband Erik of Tacoma, WA; as well as by a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Dale and Howard Abel.
